The parents of special needs students loved Marnie Seber because of her devotion to their kids.
Covington - It's hard to tell by looking at her, but, Marnie Seber is a star.
She's the sun and moon and so much more to the parents of each one of the medically fragile children she teaches at Middle Ridge Elementary in Covington.
"God had a plan and he sent us to the right place," said Sharon Troche,
Troche needed the right place for her six year old son, Andre.
"It was hard for me personally to let go of my baby. This was his first year at school," said Troche. "But once got to know his teacher and met with her and saw how she was really doing and spending time with these kids and really taking, excellent care of them, I was like I can relax."
It's what every parent wants - but it's especially important for those with special needs kids.
"These are my babies. They're my children, too," said Seber. "I don't know. They're just in my heart."
Marnie knew she wanted to do this in high school, after a summer working at a camp for special needs children. She just realized...
She gets help from assistants who work with the children one-on-one
"I don't think I could make it without them in the room," Seber said of the help she gets.
But, she's the academic leader.
"Some of those (academic) steps can take awhile to be achieved. You just have to patient and wait" she said.
She has that patience and grateful parents who nominated her for the 11Alive's Class Act honor.
"Very loving she goes way above and beyond what it takes to get her job done. It's just not a paycheck to her," she said.
