EAST POINT, Ga. -- An East Point police officer was fired and taken into custody by agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Friday.
In August, the East Point Police Department placed Officer Eric Miller on administrative leave pending the investigation of an alleged theft.
East Point asked the GBI to investigate any further criminal activity. At the same time, the police department's Internal Affairs unit performed its own investigation.
Miller was arrested Friday and charged with theft by taking, violation of oath of office and giving false statements.
He was immediately terminated from the police force. Miller bonded out of jail Saturday and faces an October 7 court date.
