Emily Walker, the mother of a man killed by police, in a controversial Rob Teilhet ad
ATLANTA (AP) -- A handful of high-profile prosecutors are gathering to denounce a high-profile attack ad against a former district attorney running in the Democratic primary for attorney general.
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard and several other
officials are scheduled to appear Thursday to back Ken Hodges. Aides also say former Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor and ex-Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears will lend their support.
The ad by state Rep. Rob Teilhet's campaign features Emily Walker. She criticizes Hodges for failing to secure a grand jury indictment against the deputy who shot and killed her unarmed son Kenneth.
Hodges has said he followed the proper procedure and that Teilhet's campaign wants to "exploit the family's grief and use it
for political purposes."
