Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Anthony James led the way with 19 points as
the Northern Iowa Panthers took down the Bradley Braves, 64-55, in a Missouri
Valley Conference matchup at the McLeod Center.
For the Panthers (18-12, 8-9 MVC), Marc Sonnen added 13 points, Johnny Moran
finished with 12 points and Seth Tuttle pulled down 11 rebounds.
Walt Lemon Jr. led the Braves (7-23, 2-15) with 22 points, while Jake Eastman
chipped in 10 points.
The Braves shot well to open the game, connecting on 50 percent of their field
goals, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. UNI managed to make just 33.3
percent from the floor and just 2-of-10 from three-point range. The Panthers
were able to keep the game close by outscoring the Braves from the free-throw
line 6-0 in the first half, as the Panthers took a 30-24 lead into the break.
After halftime, UNI heated up, hitting on 52.2 percent, including 6-of-13 from
long distance. In the second half, it was Bradley's turn to struggle from the
floor, making only 33.3 percent of their shots. The Panthers continued their
advantage at the free-throw line in the second half, outscoring the Braves
10-6. UNI pushed their lead to as many as 12 points, as they pulled out the
victory.
UNI outrebounded Bradley, 36-26. Bradley was able to convert 11 UNI turnovers
into 15 points.
